Ministry of Fundraising
We are excited to present you with this fundraising packet, which will serve as a valuable resource as you embark on a journey to grow in your faith, build a strong community, and have fun with your friends at one of our summer events. We understand that raising funds can sometimes feel daunting, but we believe that fundraising is not just about collecting money; it is an opportunity to deepen your spirituality and learn valuable lessons about stewardship and generosity.
.
In this fundraising endeavor, we draw inspiration from Henri Nouwen's profound teachings on "the spirituality of fund-raising." Nouwen reminds us that fundraising is not primarily about meeting financial needs but about inviting others to participate in our mission and vision. It is about building relationships, sharing our passion, and inviting others to be a part of something greater than themselves.
To understand the significance of fundraising in our Catholic faith, let us turn to the example of St. Paul. As an apostle and missionary, St. Paul was dedicated to spreading the Gospel and establishing Christian communities. Despite his tireless efforts, St. Paul recognized the importance of financial support to sustain his ministry. In his letters to the Corinthians, he writes, "If we have sown spiritual seed for you, is it a great thing that we reap a material harvest from you? (1 Corinthians 9:11). St. Paul understood that receiving financial assistance was not a sign of weakness or a burden but a way for the community to participate in the work of God.
Moreover, St. Paul demonstrated remarkable self-sufficiency and resourcefulness in supporting himself during his ministry. He worked as a tentmaker while spreading the Gospel, using his skills to provide for his basic needs and lessen the burden on the communities he served. St. Paul's example teaches us that fundraising is not solely about relying on others for support but also about utilizing our own talents and abilities to contribute to our mission.
In light of Nouwen's insights and St. Paul's example, we invite you to approach fundraising as an opportunity for personal growth and spiritual development. See it as a chance to deepen your trust in God's provision, to cultivate a spirit of gratitude, and to share your passion for the camp experience with others. Remember that by engaging in fundraising, you are not only raising money but also inviting others to join you on a journey of faith, community, and joyful experiences.
As you embark on this fundraising endeavor, we encourage you to approach it with a spirit of joy, creativity, and openness. Take the time to reflect on the spiritual lessons it offers, embrace the opportunity to build relationships, and trust that God will guide you every step of the way. May this fundraising experience not only support your participation in the summer camp but also deepen your understanding of stewardship, generosity, and the transformative power of community.
Wishing you abundant blessings in your fundraising efforts!
Yours in Christ,
