Memo from Msgr. Raun - Tuesday, June 2nd, 2020

My dear family,

Greetings in the Lord Jesus!

WAYS TO HOLD ON TO JOY IN TROUBLED TIMES

Realize the Presence of the Lord

When we are continually aware of the Lord’s presence with us, it brings us joy. We can cultivate this knowledge by reading the Bible. In Acts 2:25-28, Peter quoted King David when he told the crowd at Pentecost, “I see that the Lord is always with me. I will not be shaken for He is right beside me.”

In many other passages, we read about God’s nearness to his children. In the same way, we can be assured He is with us, bringing comfort in difficulty and joy in the middle of our messes. Prayer is another way to become fully aware of God’s company. As we lift our concerns to Him, He helps us sense his attendance to our needs. Later in Acts 2, Peter said in verse 28, “You will fill me with the joy of your presence.”

God is here—what joy!

“You have shown me the way of life, and you will fill me with the joy of your presence." Acts 2:28

A NOVENA TO ST. ANTHONY : At the 6 pm Holy Hour each night we will pray a novena to St. Anthony in preparation for his feast day on June 13th. The intention of this novena will be for God's peace and justice to prevail in our beloved country. I know many of us are shocked and troubled by the events we have seen in our nation this past week, beginning with the death of Mr. George Floyd. I daresay that the causes of this unrest are many. The one thing we all must do is pray for our nation and it's people. Who better to turn to than the Wonder-Worker of Padua, St. Anthony. Many thanks to Fr. McKee for suggesting this novena.

GOOD NEWS: Steve Woodbury came through his operation just fine, and is now recuperating at home. If all goes well, he should be back playing the organ in two weeks.

PRAYER REQUEST: Gracey Fajardo called and wanted the parish to pray for her mother, Gloria Guzman, who passed away this morning. May her soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, rest in peace.Amen.

HOW TO GO TO MASS:
1. Weekday Mass - just show up.    Saturday evening and Sunday Mass - make a reservation by calling the parish     office (892-1511) or go to stanm.org or use the parish app.
2. Wear a mask.

3. Be prepared to receive Communion in the hand.

CONFESSIONS: Monday through Friday - 5 pm, Saturday - 2:30 pm You need to be in the church at those times if you wish to confess. When the last penitent in line has confessed, the priest will not wait around: he will go home!

PLEASE SHARE ALL THIS INFORMATION WITH THOSE WHO DO NOT HAVE ACCESS TO THE INTERNET!

HOLINESS TIP  for Making Prayers of Petition More Effective...Read the Bible daily
“If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.”
(Jn. 15:7)

PRAY FOR OUR NATION! PRAY, PRAY, PRAY!

LAUGHTER IS THE BEST MEDICINE:

The church will host an evening of fine dining, super entertainment and gracious hostility.

OUR PRAYER FOR THE DAY: the novena to St. Anthony, starting June 4th

St. Anthony, you were prompt to fulfill all justice. You zealously gave to God and to neighbor their rightful due. You respected other people's rights and, with great charity, treated them with unfailing patience, kindness and understanding.

St. Anthony, Zealous for Justice, teach us the beauty of this virtue. Make us prompt to fulfill all justice toward God and toward our neighbor. We especially implore you to intercede for our nation in this time of crisis, that all of us may receive courage and fortitude in the face of fear, that peace and justice may prevail in our divided society, and that life may serenely resume its normal course for the benefit and well being of all. Amen.

I send you my fatherly blessing, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen !
