Memo from Msgr. Raun - Friday, May 29th, 2020

My dear family,

Greetings in the Risen Lord!

WAYS TO HOLD ON TO JOY IN TROUBLED TIMES

Remember the Good Things God Has Done

The dedication of Solomon’s Temple was a grand and beautiful event. Musicians played, choirs sang, and the people recited scripture reminding them of God’s work on behalf of Israel.
As they departed the celebration, we read in I Kings 8:66 that they rejoiced because of all the good things God had done for them. They would need to hold onto the memories in later years when times became tough.

In the same way, we need to remember the good things God did for us in the past. This practice will fill us with joy, and at the same time help us realize that He will do it again. Remember that time when you were just sure you couldn’t take another day—but God did something or sent someone to help? Because you know He did it before, you can be joyfully confident He’ll provide just what you need this time, too.

“…They blessed the king and went to their homes joyful and glad because the Lord had been good to his servant David and to his people Israel." 1 Kings 8:66

PRAISE REPORT: This morning I installed six new Eucharistic Ministers to help us during the quarantine. God bless you! We need even more volunteers under 60 to help as ushers and Eucharistic ministers, at weekend and weekday Masses. Just call the parish office (892-1511) to offer your services! Thank you.

HOW TO GO TO MASS:
1. Weekday Mass - just show up.
Saturday evening and Sunday Mass - make a reservation by calling the parish office (892-1511) or go to stanm.org or use the parish app.
2. Wear a mask.
3. Be prepared to receive Communion in the hand.

CONFESSIONS: Monday through Friday - 5 pm, Saturday - 2:30 pm You need to be in the church at those times if you wish to confess. When the last penitent in line has confessed, the priest will not wait around: he will go home!

PLEASE SHARE ALL THIS INFORMATION WITH THOSE WHO DO NOT HAVE ACCESS TO THE INTERNET!

HOLINESS TIP for Making Prayers of Petition More Effective... Say goodbye to uncharitable acts……especially in your families: “Likewise, you husbands should live with your wives in understanding, showing honor to the weaker female sex, since we are joint heirs of the gift of life, so that your prayers may not be hindered.”

(1 Pet. 3:7)

WE ARE IN THE MONTH OF MAY - PRAY THE ROSARY EVERY DAY!

LAUGHTER IS THE BEST MEDICINE:
Never in a million years could I have imagined I would go up to a bank teller wearing a mask and ask for money.

I am home schooling. Then first day I tried to get this kid transferred out of my class.

OUR PRAYER FOR THE DAY: as we prepare for Pentecost...
Heavenly King, Comforter, the Spirit of Truth, present in all places and filling all things, Treasury of Goodness and Giver of life: come and abide in us. Cleanse us from every stain of sin and save our souls, O Gracious Lord.

I send you my fatherly blessing, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen !

Msgr. Doug Raun
