Memo from Msgr. Raun - Monday, May 11th, 2020

My dear family,

Greetings in the Risen Lord!

REASONS TO HOPE IN GOD'S GOODNESS

God will take you to heaven one day!

“I will dwell in the house of the LORD as long as I live” (Psalm 23:6). No matter what you experience on earth, God promises you an eternal home with him in heaven. Your future is guaranteed if you live and die with Him.

Many people in our world and in our church are trying to receive these benefits that we have considered these past nine days through their careers, their relationships, or their savings accounts. Many are seeing the frailty of those crutches right now, and they are looking for hope from somewhere else.

Let’s model and teach where real hope comes from.

MONDAY NIGHT BIBLE STUDY will be at 7 pm. We will continue our Habits of Happiness series. I will be sharing about "The Five Habits of a Happy Heart" that St. Paul teaches us. I hope you can join me! Watch it on the parish app or at stanm.org.

PRAYER REQUESTS:  Let us pray for one another!

Mr. & Mrs. C. D., have been blessed to be well and that their family has experienced certain graces from the circumstances... They have three children, a five-year-old boy who is autistic, and two older. Mrs. D. is concerned about the relaxation of the restrictions. While on the one hand, the are just as excited to have the gradual return of social freedoms, such as we knew them; the other hand is the very real risk to her little boy's health, as his autism puts him in a high-risk group. She wonders how they will balance the freedoms for their older kids, yet protect the younger son. Moreover, of all of them, the little one has had the most difficult time adapting and he, and parents, too, are ready to return to a non-virtual exchange of his therapies and services (much of a blessing as it has been to receive them virtually). Let us pray that the D.'s may offer these intentions to the Lord, our God, entrusting to His providence, the safe and loving Shepherding of their children.

ETERNAL REST GRANT THEM, O LORD! Yesterday I received word that our parishioner, Barbara Mueller, had gone home to the Lord on Saturday. She is the mother of Sandra Mueller, who is one of our Care Callers. Please pray for Mrs. Mueller's soul and the consolation of her family.

HOLINESS TIP:  taken from the sayings of Blessed Laura Vicuña....

“Be constant in virtue” Practice holy habits, especially the virtue of purity. Pray for the grace of self-control. Take custody of your senses. Do not do, speak about, look at, or listen to anything that could compromise virtue. Remain in a state of grace. If you fall, make a good act of contrition right away and tell God you will get to confession as soon as you can.

WE ARE IN THE MONTH OF MAY - PRAY THE ROSARY EVERY DAY!

LAUGHTER IS THE BEST MEDICINE:
- Kinda’ starting to understand why pets try to run out of the house when the door opens.

- Do you think it’s bad now? In 20 years, our country will be run by people home-schooled by day drinkers….

OUR PRAYER FOR THE DAY:
Lord, the resurrection of Your Son has given us new life and renewed hope. Help us to live as new people in pursuit of the Christian ideal. Grant us wisdom to know what we must do, the will to want to do it, the courage to undertake it, the perseverance to continue to do it, and the strength to complete it.

I send you my fatherly blessing, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen !

Thank you Monsignor Raun. I belong to the San Juan Nepomoceno Parish in El Rito, however we do not have live streaming masses here. I have been attending your 9:00 daily mass since the start of this pandemic. I find your Homily's very spiritually lifting and fulfilling. I wanted to give you Thanks from the bottom of my heart for making these difficult times easier to not comprehend but calm the anxiety that we are feeling as a country. Thank you and God bless you always.
