Memo from Msgr. Raun - Sunday, April 19th 2020

My dear family in the Lord,

The Lord is risen. ALLELUIA !

Blessings to you on this beautiful Octave Day of Easter, the Feast of the Divine Mercy!

A sign of God’s love and mercy

When Sister Teresita Richardson’s prayer group decided to select one person and pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet for 54 days for that person’s conversion, they chose her brother, John, who claimed to be an atheist. A parishioner named Henry, who did not belong to the prayer group, offered to pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet privately for John’s conversion.

A few months later her brother was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor and underwent surgery. “Our prayers were answered when my brother asked to see a priest in the hospital,” said Sister Teresita, who lives in Williamsville, New York. “But John’s prognosis was not good.”

The morning John died, Sister Teresita received a call from Henry inquiring about John. “I told him John had passed away that morning. Henry proceeded to tell me that earlier in the morning, while he was having breakfast, a mysterious light rested on a rose that was in a vase on his kitchen table. The light split into red and white rays. Henry could not trace its source.”

Henry’s wife entered the kitchen, and again this mysterious light rested on the rose and split into red and white rays. Sister Teresita believes it was a confirmation that her brother, John, had regained his faith in God.

“When the rays of Divine Mercy hit the rose it was a sign of God’s love and mercy,” Sister Teresita said. “We were all joyful that John had been so wonderfully received by Jesus.”

NEW MONDAY NIGHT BIBLE STUDY! We are happy to announce that tomorrow (Monday, April 20) at 7 pm,  we are starting a new Bible Study: "The Habits of Happiness." We taught this Bible study about three years ago, but we felt that it could do a lot of good right now! It's a study of St. Paul's letter to the Philippians, the "happiest book in the Bible." In short, we are going to learn how God can make us happy, no matter what! Deacon Dave Little and I will be team-teaching this. Don't miss it. It will be saved on the website for those of you who can't join us at that time.

PRAISE REPORT: Another message from one of our Care Callers:
"Just wanted to share with you a couple of experiences on my care calls that “touched my heart”. On the first I was talking to a gentleman and asked if he was comfortable saying the Hail Mary for those that are not doing so well during this crisis. He said “Certainly” but asked if I could wait a minute.  He then called all his grandchildren into the room, put us on speaker phone and advised them that they were all going to say a prayer with “the lady from our church” for the people in need. Hearing all those voices, young and old together was very moving for me and I think for Our Lady too.

On another call, I was speaking with a younger Mom and when we began saying the Hail Mary I could hear a younger voice on the phone.  When we were done I asked who was that young person joining us and the Mom told me that it was her child who is getting ready to make her first confession.

What encouragement these calls were for me seeing how the Faith is being passed on from one generation to the next among the families of our wonderful parish."

NEW ALPHA SERIES! : We have more than 20 people signed up already! How about you? How about inviting someone you know? Just go to stanm.org to register (which you have to do because we are going to have it on Zoom.)

OUR TITHING: a weekly reminder, friends. First, for those of you who are hurting financially at this time, we understand and are praying for you everyday.

For those of you who have an income, we need to do our part in supporting the ministry of our parish family at this critical time. I have been overwhelmed by the generosity you have shown over the past weeks. God bless you! Basically, there are two ways you can get your tithe to us:

1. Go to the parish website: stanm.org Click on the "Give" button. It will guide you from there. You can use your checking account or credit card. You can make it a one-time donation, or a repeating donation.

2. Send it to the parish office (1502 Sara Rd., Rio Rancho, 87124) either by mail or in person, putting it in the mail slot.

God bless you, friends. You have been wonderful!

SHARE US ON-LINE on your social media. Download the parish app onto your smart phone or tablet. It the easiest way to receive everything the parish has to enrich your life.

HOLINESS TIP: When feeling depression, fear, or worry, just keep repeating that wonderful prayer our Lord taught St. Faustina - that prayer found on every Divine Mercy Image: JESUS, I TRUST IN YOU.

LAUGHTER IS THE BEST MEDICINE:
My hubby purchased a world map...gave me a dart and said "Throw this and, wherever it lands, I'm taking you for a vacation when this pandemic is over."
Turns out we're spending two weeks behind the fridge.

OUR PRAYER FOR THE DAY: A Prayer To The Divine Mercy of God :
O Lord, our God
We place all our trust in you, because you are mercy itself;
We repent of our sins and turn to you for mercy.
We trust you to provide for our every need, according to your will.
Help us to forgive others as you forgive us.
We promise to be merciful by our deeds, words and prayers.
Though we have fears because of human weakness, we rely on your infinite goodness and mercy.

We entrust to your mercy our very lives, our present situation and our uncertain future.
We entrust to you the future of our planet, our Church, our nations, our families and all our needs.

With loud cries, we implore your mercy on us and the whole world.
Look upon us created in your image and likeness.

Form us in the heart of Mary, by the power of the Holy Spirit, into living images of mercy.
May all come to know the depth of your mercy and sing the praises of your mercy forever. Amen.

Deacon Bob Digan

I send you my fatherly blessing, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen !
