Memo From Msgr Raun Good Friday 2020

My dear family in the Lord,
Special blessings to you on the most solemn day of the year, Good Friday, when our blessed Savior died for us!

Let's conclude of meditation on Psalm 23:
Our reward will last forever.

No matter what happens to our earthly bodies, this is not the end of the story. Heaven will be worth any valley we go through today. There we will be rewarded for our faithfulness during our time on earth.

The Bible says heaven is real—and we’ll be there forever. No valley, no matter how long it seems now, will last near that long.

2 Corinthians 4:17 says, “We have small troubles for a while now, but they are helping us gain an eternal glory that is much greater than the troubles”

I don’t know how you’re experiencing this valley. I don’t know what fear keeps you up at night. Maybe you’re scared of getting sick. Maybe you’re scared of someone you love getting sick. Maybe you’re scared of not having a job. Maybe you are scared that if this quarantine doesn't end soon, you will go stark raving mad!

I do know that you have a Shepherd walking through this valley with you. I know God will work good out of this situation. I know the valley won’t last.

Take some time to soak in Psalm 23 today—for yourself and your family as well.
We’ll walk through this valley together as we look at it in light of eternity. Revelation 21:4 tells us: "God will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever”
This is not the end of the story.

After the last person he waits a few minutes and then goes home.

THE CHURCH WILL BE CLOSED:
Holy Saturday at 5:00 pm

I see I made a mistake yesterday - the church IS open today until 7 pm.
This is so we can prepare for the celebration of the Holy Week Liturgies
BLESSED SALT is once again available in the back of the church.

A SPECIAL INDULGENCE FOR TODAY : For this year only, our Holy Father the Pope is granting a plenary indulgence to anyone who today (Good Friday), prays the Litany of the Sacred Heart. (This Litany can be found in most prayer books, and it can be found many places on line.). The only conditions are 1) be truly repentant of any sins you have committed and desire to go to confession as soon as you are able to, and 2) pray for the Holy Father's intentions (Normally this would be an Our Father, Hail Mary, and Apostle's Creed.)

SPIRITUAL TIP FOR THE DAY : Offer up your sufferings, whether big or small. Don’t waste suffering. Give it to Jesus in union with His suffering for your intentions.

THE BEST MENTAL HEALTH BREAK EVER :

 PRAYER FOR THE DAY :

Lord Jesus Christ, who for the redemption of mankind did ascend the cross, that thou might enlighten the world that lay in darkness: gather us this day with all thy faithful to thy holy cross; that, gazing in penitence upon thy great sacrifice for us, we may be freed from all our sins, and entering into the mystery of thy passion, be crucified to the worthless show and power of this passing world; and finding our glory in the cross alone, we may attain at last thy everlasting glory, where thou, the Lamb that once was slain, reigns with the Father and the Holy Spirit, one God for ever and ever. Amen.
I send you my fatherly blessing, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
