Memo from Msgr. Raun- Monday October 26th, 2020

My dear family,
Peace and blessing from the Lord Jesus to you all.

Well, your clergy and staff have been busy trying to figure out how to make the best of the strange situation that we are in. The big change in the past 48 hours is that the Archbishop has said that it is permissible to celebrate Mass outdoors and to distribute Holy Communion outdoors. Outdoor Mass is not really an option for us, with winter weather coming and the odd configuration of our parking lot. So - this is what we are going to try:
1. Starting this Thursday, October 29, the normal schedule of Masses - weekday and weekend - will resume in church. These will be private Masses.
2. BUT - every Mass will be broadcast on our low-wattage FM transmitter at 106.5 FM. (I'm calling this Radio Station R-A-U-N , the Catholic Voice of Rio Rancho :-) You can listen to the Mass anywhere in our parish parking lot. Just sit in your car and listen to the Mass.
3. THEN - after each Mass, Eucharistic Ministers will go out of the doors of the church with the Blessed Sacrament. Just go line up at the doors and receive Holy Communion.

Please remember to wear your mask and to keep socially distanced while lining up to receive Communion. And - be very considerate and careful of your fellow parishioners in the parking lot as you drive away!

4. The 9 am Mass will continue to be live-streamed daily, as well as broadcast on the FM transmitter. The 9 am Sunday Mass will be a full sung Mass. All the other Saturday evening and Sunday Masses will be broadcast on our FM transmitter, but they will be recited Masses with a short sermon, not more than about 30 minutes.
Friends, this is the best we can come up with to make sure that everyone can receive Holy Communion every Sunday - indeed, every day. I sincerely hope we will all take advantage of this.
Also, remember the following:

We will open the church building every day at 9:30 am until 6:00 pm. (On Sundays from 2 pm to 6 pm.) We will have Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament during this time Monday through Friday.
We are hearing Confessions Monday through Friday at 9:30 am and 5:00 pm. Saturday confessions will be at 9:30 am and 2:30 pm.
Please call the parish office to arrange funerals, marriages and baptisms. There are to be no more than 10 persons present, and are to be celebrated without Mass.
Your priests are happy to make sick calls. Every precaution will be taken to protect the health of the sick person and the priest. Just call the parish office.
All catechism classes will take place on-line. We continue to prepare children for First Confession and Holy Communion, and for Confirmation.

For the time being, the school continues to operate as it has the past two months. That could change if the spread of the virus gets worst.

Our great mission as a parish remains unchanged: to bring people to Jesus, and to bring Jesus to people.
Pray, my dear family, pray. Prayer is the greatest power in the world. Say the Rosary every day!
We will get back to the regular weekly memos with my corny jokes later in the week!

PLEASE SHARE ALL THIS INFORMATION WITH THOSE WHO DO NOT HAVE ACCESS TO THE INTERNET!
Let us close with another powerful prayer for the protection of God's Family, the Church.....
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary,
that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection,
implored your help, or sought your intercession,
was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence,
I fly unto you, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother.
To you do I come, before you I stand, sinful and sorrowful.
O Mother of the Word Incarnate,
despise not my petitions,
but in your mercy, hear and answer me.
Amen.

I send you my fatherly blessing, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen !

Msgr. Doug Raun
