Memo from Msgr. Raun- October 10th, 2020

My dear family,

Greetings in the Lord Jesus, as we prepare for the Lord's Day!

BENEFITS OF WORSHIPING DURING "Why, God?" HARDSHIPS

Worship Makes Us Thankful

It’s impossible to be thankful and full of worry at the same time. Gratitude is a choice. It is us saying: yes, things are difficult right now, and this trial seems overwhelming at times, but—as I’m thinking about who God really is and how he’s helped me through every other trial I’ve gone through—my heart is overflowing with love for all God has done.

And since God is immutable, which means he doesn’t change, I know that God will help me again. While I wait, I’m not alone, because God promised he would never leave me nor forsake me (Hebrews 13:5).

Sometimes as I sit and worship, I feel thankful that God trusts me enough to handle what is before me. If you’ve ever seen people go through one thing after another, and yet, keep praising God, you know what I’m talking about.

Going through trials can make you bitter, or they can strengthen the relationship you have with God. Instead of feeling like God is picking on you, you feel humbled that God knows you will use this circumstance as another opportunity to lean into Him.

He’s trusting us to trust Him and then when we get through it, we can praise Him to others and share how once again he got us through another trial.

40 DAYS OF PRAYER !
We are now in our Fall spiritual campaign – 40 Days of Prayer!

Wherever I go people are telling me how much they are enjoying our 40 Days of Prayer small groups. And it's not too late for you to join one.  It you have a personal computer, tablet, or smart phone with Internet access, you can join. Just go to the parish website - stanm.org - and click on the join button. Then you will also be emailed the Scripture verse we are meditating on each day.

LAST WEEKEND we had about 1250 people in person at Mass. We are monitoring the attendance closely, and when we consistently have more than 300 people at any one Mass, will will start Mass in the Hall.

FAMILY FILM DRIVE-IN NEXT FRIDAY : We will be hosting a family Friday Night Lights Drive in Movie, this coming Friday evening 16 October at 7:00pm.  The movie will be shown in the parking lot behind the Youth Center.
The movie is 23 Blast. It's an inspirational sports movie about a high school football player who goes blind and his struggle that follows.  The story of 23 Blast behind the scenes is a story of overcoming obstacles and odds, persevering and choosing faith over fear. It should be a great film for everyone!

HOW TO GO TO MASS:
  1. All Masses - just show up. But remember that we have to close off the church when we reach 300 people in attendance.
  2. Wear a mask.
  3. Be prepared to receive Communion in the hand.

IF WE REACH 300 PEOPLE AT A MASS, and a person arrives after that, they will be invited to come to another Mass, or they can go to their car and wait, and they will be allowed to join the Communion line at the end of Mass. We are now broadcasting every Sunday Mass on our new low-wattage FM transmitter, at 106.5 FM. You can receive this signal from anyplace in the parking lot of the church.
Holy Communion outside the doors of the Fr. D'Arco Parish Hall is distributed after the Sunday 9 am Mass for those who do not yet feel comfortable going inside the church.

CONFESSIONS: in the Adoration Chapel
Weekdays: 8 am and 5  pm
Saturday: 8 am and 2:30 pm

EXPOSITION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT :
Monday through Friday, 10 am to 6 pm

BAPTISMS, MARRIAGES,SICK CALLS and FUNERALS are all taking place, albeit under the restrictions mandated by the Archbishop and the Governor. Just call the parish office and we will gladly help you with the preparations needed.
PLEASE SHARE ALL THIS INFORMATION WITH THOSE WHO DO NOT HAVE ACCESS TO THE INTERNET!

HOLINESS TIP : Quotes from one of the greatest Christian teachers of the 20th Century, C.S. Lewis...….
“No man knows how bad he is till he has tried very hard to be good.”

LAUGHTER IS THE BEST MEDICINE:
Why do toasters always have a setting that burns the toast to a horrible crisp, which no decent human being would eat?

HOW DID THE MAN WHO MADE THE FIRST CLOCK, KNOW WHAT TIME IT WAS?

OUR PRAYER FOR THE DAY:  October is also the month of the Guardian Angels...

O Holy Angel,
attendant of my wretched soul
and of mine afflicted life,
forsake me not, a sinner,
neither depart from me for mine inconstancy.
Give no place to the evil demon to subdue me
with the oppression of this mortal body;
but take me by my wretched and outstretched hand,
and lead me in the way of salvation.
Yea, O holy Angel of God,
the guardian and protector
of my hapless soul and body,
forgive me all things
whatsoever wherewith I have troubled thee,
all the days of my life,
and if I have sinned in anything this day.
Shelter me in this present night,
and keep me from every affront of the enemy,
lest I anger God by any sin;
and intercede with the Lord in my behalf,
that He might strengthen me in the fear of Him,
and make me a worthy servant of His goodness.
Amen.

I send you my fatherly blessing, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen !
