Memo from Msgr. Raun - Saturday, May 9th, 2020

My dear family,
Greetings in the Risen Lord!

REASONS TO HOPE IN GOD'S GOODNESS

God will publicly show his favor on your life!

“You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows” (Psalm 23:5). God doesn’t just promise to show his favor on your life; he promises to do it in front of the people who attack you. He promises to not just meet your needs but to give you abundance if you trust him.

TOMORROW IS SUNDAY - although we can't go to Mass, let's watch devoutly the Holy Mass, offering ourselves anew to God the Father through Jesus Christ upon the altar. Let's pray together - as a family, if possible - and do our best to keep the Lord's Day holy.

PRAISE REPORT: from Deacon Frank Smith:
"The Care Kit program has been a very inspirational ministry.  Recently an unusual request was made by a parish member.  They did not request food or toilet paper.  They simply requested holy water and blessed salt.  I momentarily paused at first wondering what to do with it.  Thinking about it briefly, I was struck by how humble and faith filled this request was. Their request was simply for spiritual nourishment.  Of course, the request was filled with holy, holy water – water from the Grotto at Lourdes and blessed salt made available to all in the church.  Added to the Friday delivery was a printed Novena to Our Lady of Lourdes and a written description of the Apparitions of Lourdes in 1858. I believe those in the Care Call / Care Kit ministry often experience greater blessings than those who are served by the ministry"

HOLINESS TIP: In this time of pandemic, where fear and loss cripples our world, where the storm rages and the winds of uncertainty blow – what better time than now that we should turn to our tender-hearted Blessed Mother and invoke her powerful intercession. As St. Bernard said : “Remember that in this world you are tossed about on a stormy sea; you are not walking on solid ground. Remember that if you don’t want to be lost at sea, you must keep your eyes fixed on this bright star and call on Mary.”

WE ARE IN THE MONTH OF MAY - PRAY THE ROSARY EVERY DAY!

LAUGHTER IS THE BEST MEDICINE:

- 2020 is a unique Leap Year. It has 29 days in February, 300 days in March, 5 years in April, and a century in May.

- Wearing a mask inside your home is now highly recommended. Not so much to prevent COVID-19 but to stop eating.

OUR PRAYER FOR THE DAY: from our beloved Patron, St. Thomas Aquinas...

Give me, O Lord, a steadfast heart which no unworthy thought can drag downwards; an unconquered heart which no tribulation can wear out; an upright heart which no unworthy purpose may tempt aside. Bestow upon me also, O Lord my God, understanding to know you, diligence to seek you, wisdom to find you, and a faithfulness that may finally embrace you; through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

I send you my fatherly blessing, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen !

I wouldn't have come to the faith if it wasn't for St. Thomas Aquinas... what a happy "coincidence" that the family parish was STANM. 💗
