Memo from Msgr. Raun - Friday, May 1st, 2020

My dear family in the Lord,

Good Morning !

" St. John Henry Newman offers various reasons why May in particular is dedicated to Our Lady:

The first reason is because it is the time when the earth bursts forth into its fresh foliage and its green grass after the stern frost and snow of winter and the raw atmosphere and the wild wind and rain of the early spring. It is because the blossoms are upon the trees and the flowers are in the gardens. It is because the days have got long, and the sun rises early and sets late. For such gladness and joyousness of  Nature is a fit attendant on our devotion to our Blessed Mother.

The Blessed Virgin Mary offered the disciples her prayers, motherly care, and witness. She continues to offer us her motherly love and intercession. During this month of May, let us rediscover her maternal role in each of our lives. Let us offer our spiritual mother our sincere prayers, that just as she aided the first Apostles with her prayers, she may also guide and intercede for us in our journey of faith. Let us learn from her how to love and trust God completely and how to be faithful witnesses of the risen Lord.

Nada Mazzei - May, the Month of the Blessed Mother

REMEMBER:
  • May Crowning on-line, today, Friday, May 1, 6 pm
  • The Holy Father's request that we pray the Holy Rosary every day during May (as a family, if possible) for an end to the pandemic
  • Let's all resolve to make the month of May a time of powerful prayer, asking God through the intercession of our Lady to end the scourge of this pestilence!

PRAISE REPORT: Our Care Kits continue to go out twice a week to those parishioners who cannot leave their homes and have no one to shop for them. We received this note yesterday:
"Thank you so much for sending a care kit to my home.

I just couldn't believe all the goodies and necessities you guys put together!
This is a wonderful ministry.

I know I sound effusive in my gratitude but here it is.

 Sincerely,
 Margaret J."

The Care Kits are provided free of charge. Many thanks to our Care Kits volunteers who make this wonderful ministry possible.

HOLINESS TIP: “Whatever God wants.” What is God calling you to in your stay-at-home life? From home schooling to working, what should be on your to-do list? How should you spend your downtime with those you are quarantined with? What about spending an afternoon baking? Or taking a walk, enjoying God’s creation. Or simply praying together. (inspired from the sayings of St.Gianna Molla).

OUR PRAYER FOR THE DAY: What better prayer to begin the month of May with -

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thine intercession was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother; to thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me.
Amen.

I send you my fatherly blessing, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen !
