Memo from Msgr. Raun - Monday, April 27th, 2020

My dear family in the Lord,

A good day to you all. Many of you have told me that you are enjoying the Bible verses. So here are :

MORE ANXIETY ANTIDOTES FROM THE BIBLE
Don’t Try to Make Things Happen – Follow Christ in All You Do

“Anyone who intends to come with me has to let me lead. You’re not in the driver’s seat; I am. Don’t run from suffering; embrace it. Follow me and I’ll show you how. Self-help is no help at all. Self-sacrifice is the way, my way, to saving yourself, your true self. What good would it do to get everything you want and lose you, the real you? What could you ever trade your soul for?” (Mark 8:34, the Message paraphrase)

Don’t Hurry – Slow Down, Listen to God, and Trust Him

“Be still and know that I am God.” (Psalm 46:10)

MONDAY NIGHT BIBLE STUDY : THE HABITS OF HAPPINESS will be tonight at 7 pm, with yours truly teaching. Tonight our topic is "How To Be Happy NO MATTER WHAT!". We will study the second half of Philippians 1, where St. Paul shows us how to be happy, no matter what is going on in our life. I can't think of anything more timely than that! Come join us! Just go to stanm.org. It will be available there afterwards in case you can't join us at 7 pm.

USING MAY TO RENEW OUR PERSONAL CONSECRATION TO MARY: A MESSAGE FROM FR. MCKEE :  When I learned that the bishops of the United States would be renewing the consecration of our nation to the Blessed Virgin Mary on May 1 under her title Mother of the Church, I found it really heartening. As a result, I’ve decided to renew my own Marian Consecration on the Memorial of Our Lady Mother of the Church on June 1st. Consecration to Mary is an act of devotion, promoted by St. Louis de Montfort, that consists of the entire gift of self to Jesus through Mary. It’s also a quick, easy and secure way to holiness. I’ll be using the 33 Days to Morning Glory program of preparation. I’d like to invite anyone who feels called to it, to join me. Everything necessary (except the book itself) is available at stanm.formed.org and on the STA app. It’s likely that Holy Family has some copies of the book. It’s also available for purchase on amazon as a paperback and a Kindle book. The period of preparation begins on Wednesday, April 29. In any case, I encourage everyone to participate in the national Consecration during the parish Holy Hour on May Day.Peace and blessings,
Fr. McKee

HOLINESS TIP: Serving the Poor: Getting up-close and personal with the downtrodden of society is one of the best ways to keep the devil out of our heart. When you personally help a poor person, you are saying to God that you really care about Jesus.

OUR PRAYER FOR THE DAY:
O Lord,
How amazing is your love,
A love that overcomes, endures and redeems.
How astounding is your life,
A life that sustains, heals and creates.
How awesome is your hope,
A hope that promises, restores and inspires.
How absorbing is your truth,
A truth that releases, changes and rebuilds. How we worship you, as we remember the moment when your love conquered.
When out of the cave of sorrow Jesus arose to release forgiveness to the world.
And each time we encounter this resurrection day we are again lifted to an eternal place.
Our sin, brokenness and darkness fall away and your light and peace flood our lives.
How we thank you for this incredible celebration we call Easter.Amen.

I send you my fatherly blessing, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen !
