Dear family !
Of course the big news this week is the ordination of our dear fellow parishioner, Edward Leyba, to the Order of Deacon, this Saturday, June 16th, at 10 am, at the Cathedral in Santa Fe. Ed, with his dear wife Vicky, have been long-time parishioners here at St. Thomas, involved with many ministries, and Ed has been our Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministries for several years. His ordination comes after four years of intensive training and study in preparation for ordination. Deacon Ed will serve at the Altar as deacon for the first time next Sunday at the 9 am Mass. There will be a reception for him after the Mass where you can visit with him and offer your congratulations.
Our Spring Bible Study “You Make Me Crazy” concludes this Monday, June 11, with the topic KEEPING THE CRAZYMAKERS FROM MAKING YOU CRAZY ! We will look at nine different types of difficult personalities, and learn six Biblical steps to deal with them. This class will help summarize all that we have learned in this Scripture study. If you haven’t been able to attend this study, this class will give you the main points of how to deal biblically with the crazymakers in your life. So come! 7 pm, Fr. D’Arco Hall – I’ll be teaching a one-hour presentation.
More tidings of great joy. I am very happy to announce that our dear parishioner, Mrs. Gaylene Bitonel, has been awarded the 2018 Archbishop’s St. Francis of Assisi Award for volunteer service to the Church in our parish. As you may well know, Gaylene has for many years been the coordinator of Eucharistic Adoration in our parish. She also helps with decorating the church, and she and her husband Ben are very involved in small-group Bible studies – all this on top of involvement in many other ministries. Congratulations, Gaylene! She will receive the award from the Archbishop on the Feast of St. Francis, October 4th, at the Cathedral.
There is still time to sign up on our Parish Pilgrimage to Fatima and the Shrines and Cathedrals of Spain!
