"Be who God meant you to be and you will set the world on fire"

St. Catherine of Siena

St. Thomas Aquinas has a long history as a missionary church in Rio Rancho, NM and in the Archdioces of Santa Fe.
We haven't lost that missionary spirit as we have grown and we approach youth ministry as the crucial mission field right in our own backyard.

Through our offerings of Life Teen (High School Youth Ministry), Summit (Bible Study), JCore (Disciple Leadership) and Purpose (10th - 12th grade Sacrament Preparation) we live to serve the youth community and empower teens to become more firmly rooted in the Truths of the Catholic Church.  We do this by allowing the teens to be themselves and allow them to ask any question that their hearts seek as we journey to encounter Christ.

Life Teen is a Eucharist-centered movement within the Roman Catholic Church, Life Teen leads teenagers and their families into a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ and His Church. With the Blessed Virgin Mary as our intercessor and guide.

It provides a place for teens to find solid Catholic community, to get answers to their questions about faith, and, most importantly, to experience Jesus in a profound and personal way.

Life Teen is a comprehensive youth ministry program with a strong focus on the Eucharist. It follows the USCCB Doctrinal Framework for High School Catechesis.

The goal of Life Teen is to create an environment to lead teens into a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ and the Catholic Church. It speaks to teens on all levels: emotional, intellectual, social, and spiritual.

The evening begins with a Mass directed specifically towards teens, which is followed immediately by the Life Night, which falls under one of three categories: catechetical, issue, or social. The primary objective is to encourage teens to realize a deeper relationship with Christ and to challenge them to live their faith as they carry out their daily lives. Teens experience this sharing in an atmosphere of love and acceptance from their peers and the adult leaders (Core) who are there to assist them in their journey

Our Yearly Theme

This word that allows God to do big work is simple – the word is fiat - AND IT IS LATIN FOR “LET IT BE DONE”
This year at Life Teen, we are going to be praying into that single word – fiat – and allowing it to radically transform us. We invite you to do the same and journey with us as we step into the new thing God is doing, and the ways that God still speaks light into the world, and the ways that God does that through each of us in a unique way – all of us filtering that light into the world.

Purpose is our Confirmation Course for high school teens (10th to 12th) and goes throughout the academic year. It incorporates the teens attending Life Teen  or having  attended at least 1 year of Life Teen.  Our team journeys with you and your teenager as they learn and grow in faith in readiness for the sacrament(s) of initiation they need!

Purpose is a transformative approach to confirmation. This is not a sit down and get lectured to class, but a way to encounter Christ. We Focus on three big questions, “Why believe in God?”, “Why trust Jesus?” and “Why be a part of the Church?” Purpose is more than just a fill a box program. It is a whole new approach to sacramental preparation.

Our instructors approach each of these topic areas by raising the questions which teens must ask.
Tough questions, like:
  • Is God real?
  • Why is there Evil & Suffering in the World?
  • Why be Catholic?
  • Why tell my sins to a priest?
  • Why do I have to go to Mass?
  • Why did God Create me?
  • What is my Purpose?

This   Lectionary-based   discipleship   group   is   designed  to  help  teenagers  gain  a  deeper  understanding  and appreciation for Sacred Scripture and the Holy Mass.

HOW SUMMIT WORKS - Every Summit  session  is  modeled  after  key  themes  from  the readings of the lectionary. There is a Summit session for every Sunday of the liturgical year, so we usually meet weekly to  prepare for the upcoming Sunday readings.

Each Summit   session   is   designed   around   the   four   movements  of  lectio  divina.  This  intentional  design  helps  teach  the  invaluable  prayer  of  lectio  divina  each  week  so  teenagers can continue to meditate and reflect on Sacred Scripture long after they move on from their Summit group

There are five parts to each Summit session: The Ascent, Lectio, Meditatio, Oratio, & Contemplatio,

The  goal  of  Summit  is  to  help  form  teenagers  as  disciples  of  Christ.  This is done primarily through intentional, Christ-centered relationships. Summit provides a context for evangelization and   catechesis   while   growing   in   relationship   with   a   teenager’s  peers  and  adult  mentors.
