“No believer in Christ, No Institution of the Church can avoid this Supreme Duty: to proclaim Christ to All Peoples.”
~St. John Paul II, Mission of the Redeemer
St. Thomas Aquinas Youth and Young Adult Ministry is helping to lead teens closer to Christ. We do this not only in our local parish but in different parts of the world by answering the Church’s call to go and make disciples of all nations.
Will you help us answer this call?
In this mission of bringing Jesus to the people of Haiti, we simply cannot do it alone. Whether through your prayer or financial support, we humbly implore you to join us in this mission.
The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. The need in Haiti is great, both in physical relief and goods, but especially in the spiritual sense. Please pray for the mission of St. Thomas Aquinas in Haiti, and prayerfully consider helping us today.
On January 12, 2010, a magnitude 7.0 earthquake struck just 16 miles west of Port-au-Prince, the capital of Haiti. The earthquake leveled the beautiful country, and left more than 1.5 million people homeless, 316,000 dead and devastation across the land.
Life Teen sent multiple mission trips to the country to aid in the rebuilding efforts, and one fact quickly became clear: the people of Haiti, especially the teens, were hungry for Jesus Christ.
No Catholic Youth Ministry existed in Haiti, but after an earnest appeal from the Bishop of Haiti, the St. John Paul II Center for the New Evangelization was founded in Madian, Haiti.
Just as St. Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 9:22 – “I have become all things to all, to save at least some”, so too will St. Thomas Aquinas missionaries as they interact with the Haitian people of Petite Riviere in the Diocese of Anse-A-Veau and Miragoane.
STA missionaries will work along side the full-time Life Teen missionaries at the JP2 Center for the New Evangelization. No two days look the same in Haiti, but the mission always remains constant: “Lead Teens Closer to Christ.” Every day starts with Holy hour, Morning Prayer and Mass. There are opportunities for work projects, home visits, and events for Local teens.
Sometimes it’s through renting a tanker truck to provide clean water to all in need after a hurricane, weekly Bible studies, hosting Life Teen Haiti Summer Camp, walking with teens to school, or even just providing a quiet place to pray. God is calling the St. Thomas missionaries to Haiti and we’ve been blessed by the abundant blessings & glory He has shown us in this mission!
We are hard at work assembling a new mission trip. Check back to see what it is.
