Memo ffrom Msgr. Raun- Tuesday October 6th, 2020

My dear family,

Greetings in the Lord Jesus !

TEN - THOUSAND APOLIGIES : On Saturday I wrote a new memo to go out, but somehow the machine sent out the old one. I am so sorry! I should never be allowed around computers. I hope I get it right today!
BENEFITS OF WORSHIPING DURING "Why, God?" HARDSHIPS
Worship Brings Us Closer to God

A woman sat in an empty room as she waited to testify at her sister’s murder trial. It was the perfect time and place to pray. That was her plan. So she quietly started praying, but before she knew it, she was singing. Her prayers turned into soft hymns that floated into her mind. And while her body was sitting at 26th and California, in Chicago, she felt she was sitting on God’s lap softly singing into His ear.

And when the officer came to escort me into the courtroom, she didn’t go in alone. Her God went with her.

As Jesus prayed in the garden of Gethsemane, He poured his broken heart out to God who was listening. We don’t have to see God to love him. We can see him with our spiritual eyes. Though we do not see Him, we love Him. And even though we don’t see Him now, we believe, and are filled with an inexpressible glorious joy (1 Peter 1:8). And knowing our faith in God pleases Him makes the trials less burdensome. For the Bible tells us without faith, it is impossible to please God (Hebrews 11:6).

40 DAYS OF PRAYER !
We are now in our Fall spiritual campaign – 40 Days of Prayer!

We have over 150 people in our small groups! And people are enjoying them so much! And it's not too late for you to join one.  It you have a personal computer, tablet, or smart phone with Internet access, you can join. Just go to the parish website - stanm.org - and click on the join button. Then you will also be emailed the Scripture verse we are meditating on each day.

And remember the personal challenge I am giving to all of you - five minutes a day in conversational prayer with God, and five minutes a day meditating on Scripture.

Come Holy Spirit, and by a renewed life of prayer in our parish, set our hearts on fire for Jesus Christ!

PRAYER REQUEST : Almost all of us remember our dear Sister Alma Blume, who was for many years our Director of Children's Ministries and Mother Superior of our parish convent. Word has come to us from the Motherhouse in New Jersey that her health is in serious decline. Please pray for her.

ARE YOUR KIDS IN RELIGIOUS EDUCATION ? We are having both in-person and on-line religious education. However, the number of kids registered this year is way down - including First Confession (2nd grade), First Holy Communion (3rd grade) and Confirmation (11th grade). This has me worried, friends! Pandemic or no pandemic, our kids need to be learning about Jesus Christ and receiving His life-giving Sacraments. Just go to our parish website (stanm.org) or call the parish office (892-1511), to register your kids. Now more than ever, we need to give them a strong and growing faith in Jesus Christ!

HOW TO GO TO MASS:
1. All Masses - just show up. But remember that we have to close off the church when we reach 300 people in attendance.
2. Wear a mask.

3. Be prepared to receive Communion in the hand.

IF WE REACH 300 PEOPLE AT A MASS, and a person arrives after that, they will be invited to come to another Mass, or they can go to their car and wait, and they will be allowed to join the Communion line at the end of Mass. We are now broadcasting every Sunday Mass on our new low-wattage FM transmitter, at 106.5 FM. You can receive this signal from anyplace in the parking lot of the church.
Holy Communion outside the doors of the Fr. D'Arco Parish Hall is distributed after the Sunday 9 am Mass for those who do not yet feel comfortable going inside the church.

CONFESSIONS: in the Adoration Chapel
Weekdays: 8 am and 5  pm
Saturday: 8 am and 2:30 pm

EXPOSITION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT :
Monday through Friday, 10 am to 6 pm

BAPTISMS, MARRIAGES,SICK CALLS and FUNERALS are all taking place, albeit under the restrictions mandated by the Archbishop and the Governor. Just call the parish office and we will gladly help you with the preparations needed.
PLEASE SHARE ALL THIS INFORMATION WITH THOSE WHO DO NOT HAVE ACCESS TO THE INTERNET!
HOLINESS TIP : Quotes from one of the greatest Christian teachers of the 20th Century, C.S. Lewis...….
“A silly idea is current that good people do not know what temptation means. This is an obvious lie. Only those who try to resist temptation know how strong it is… A man who gives in to temptation after five minutes simply does not know what it would have been like an hour later. That is why bad people, in one sense, know very little about badness. They have lived a sheltered life by always giving in.”

LAUGHTER IS THE BEST MEDICINE:
How is it that we put man on the moon before we figured out it would be a good idea to put wheels on luggage?

Why is it that people say they "slept like a baby" when babies wake up like every two hours?

OUR PRAYER FOR THE DAY: tomorrow is the feast of Our Lady of the Rosary....
Queen of the Most Holy Rosary, and tender Mother of all people, I consecrate myself to your Immaculate Heart, and recommend to you my family, my country, and the whole human race. Please accept my consecration, dearest Mother, and use me as you wish, to accomplish your designs upon the world. O Immaculate Heart of Mary, Queen of Heaven and earth, rule over me, and teach me how to allow the Heart of Jesus to rule and triumph in me and around me, as it has ruled and triumphed in you. Amen.

I send you my fatherly blessing, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen !
