Memo from Msgr. Raun - Wednesday, April 29th, 2020

My dear family in the Lord,

Good Morning !  For your daily meditation....

MORE ANXIETY ANTIDOTES FROM THE BIBLE

Don’t Rely Only on Yourself – Come to Jesus

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30)

Don’t Forget  that You’re Loved by God!

“For I am convinced that… [nothing] in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8:38-39)

Don’t Lose Sight of God in Your Midst – Praise Him and Trust Him with Your Burdens

“Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens.” (Psalm 68:19)

THE CHURCH IS OPEN BUT WE NEED YOUR HELP! We thank God that our church is open from 7 am to 7 pm every day. (This is not true in every parish, my friends.) We are happy to provide a place of prayer and the opportunity for people to adore our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament.
But we need your help! I'm getting reports of people not "social distancing" in church (that is, being at least 6 feet from another person) , people congregating at the door of the church, hugging one another, and so forth. We can't have this if we want to keep the church open. Also, please remember that the door handle is being touched by all sorts of people. Please use the hand sanitizer provided after you open the door. All of this is for your welfare and the welfare of others. If we all do these things, we will be able to keep the church open. Thank you!

REMEMBER:

  • May Crowning on-line, Friday, May 1, 6 pm
  • The Holy Father's request that we pray the Holy Rosary every day during May (as a family, if possible) for an end to the pandemic
  • Tomorrow, the daily memo will be the two prayers our Holy Father has asked to be prayed at the end of the Rosary during the month of May. You can print them out for use all during the month. You can also find them on the website. Please share them with people you know who do not have access to the internet.
  • Let's all resolve to make the month of May a time of powerful prayer, asking God through the intercession of our Lady to end the scourge of this pestilence!

HOLINESS TIP: Asking for Help: Praying for the holy intercession of the saints and angels in heaven is a great way to  grow in holiness. They are spring-loaded to help us, if we only ask them, especially our guardian angel, whose job it is to assist us in our spiritual battles. But most of us never ask him. If we do, along with the other saints and angels, the devil cannot win the fight for our souls. Saying the St. Michael prayer is a great place to start, along with the Litany of the Saints. If we are named after a saint, then invoking that saint is also very powerful.

DAILY PARISH WORSHIP during the Quarantine:
9 am - Holy Mass on-line
5:30 pm Confessions in the Adoration Chapel (Monday through Saturday)
6 pm Holy Hour on-line

SHARE US ON-LINE on your social media. Download the parish app onto your smart phone or tablet. It the easiest way to receive everything the parish has to enrich your life.

LAUGHTER IS THE BEST MEDICINE:
Safe Distance:
Finally the world aligns with the preferences of introverts. All events cancelled. Everybody minding their business. No physical contact. No random small talk.

Thought-Bubble:
If coronavirus isn't about beer, why do we keep hearing about cases of it?

OUR PRAYER FOR THE DAY: This is a prayer of St. Nicholas of Flue, the patron Saint of Switzerland. It has been one of my favorite prayers. It is even quoted in the Catechism!
My Lord and my God, take from me everything that distances me from you.
My Lord and my God, give me everything that brings me closer to you.
My Lord and my God, detach me from myself to give my all to you.

I send you my fatherly blessing, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen !

Msgr. Doug Raun
