Memo from Msgr. Raun - Tuesday, April 28th, 2020

My dear family in the Lord,

Hello, everyone! For your daily meditation....

MORE ANXIETY ANTIDOTES FROM THE BIBLE

Don’t Work too Hard – Rest in God’s Grace

“There remains, then a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; for anyone who enters God’s rest also rest from his own work, just as God did from his. Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest.” (Hebrews 4:9-11; See also Exodus 20:8-10.)

Don’t Hold Onto Anger – Be Honest, Direct, and Loving

“Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to his neighbor… `In your anger do not sin:’ Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry.” (Ephesians 4:25-26)

THE MONTH OF MARY STARTS FRIDAY! May is the month of our Blessed Mother. Why? Because it is the most beautiful month of the year, so it fittingly belongs to the most beautiful Woman who ever lived.

On Friday, May 1st, in place of the 6 pm Holy Hour, we will live stream the May Crowning from the church. We will pray the Holy Rosary with the prayers given to us by the Holy Father, present flowers to our Lady on behalf of the whole parish, reconsecrate our parish to our Lady in union with all the bishops of the USA and Canada, and have Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament. It won't be quite as splendid as we usually do it, but I think our devotion will be much greater this year, and that's what matters. I hope we all try to join in to start our Lady's Month with joy and spiritual fervor!

(For years, we have had ice cream for all the kids after the May Crowning out on the lawn. I'm going to really miss that. Kids, bug your parents to give you ice cream after the May devotions!)

We also want to remember that our Holy Father the Pope has asked us to pray the Rosary every day in May for an end to the pandemic. He suggests that we do this as a family, if possible. He has also issued two prayers to our Lady that he would like said at the end of the Rosary this May. On Thursday, I will put them into the daily memo so that you can print them out at home. I will also have them put on the website. Please share these prayers with those who do not have access to the Internet.
Let's turn with great confidence to our Blessed Mother, and make a point of really keeping her month this year, that through her intercession, we might see us "turn the corner" with this coronavirus during her special month!

HOLINESS TIP: Purity Being pure of heart is a huge problem today, with all of the pornography and lust in the world. But, it can be done if we spend time meditating on the Body of Jesus Crucified, instead of staring at naked bodies on the internet. It may mean we have to be very selective about what we watch on TV as well, because for sure, being pure of heart is NOT the agenda of Hollywood.

LAUGHTER IS THE BEST MEDICINE:
Medical Advice
If you need 144 rolls of toilet paper for two weeks, then you should have gone to a doctor long before coronavirus.

Announcement seen on Facebook:
My 60th birthday is today, but I just want everyone to know that I’m postponing my birthday indefinitely due to coronavirus. I will be having my birthday at a later date. A much later date. Thank you!

OUR PRAYER FOR THE DAY:  Prayer of Saint Richard of Chichester. This is one of my favorite prayers. I think it expresses so simply the spirit of following Jesus, one day at a time.

Thanks be to thee, my Lord Jesus Christ,
for all the benefits thou hast given me,
for all the pains and insults thou hast borne for me.
O most merciful Redeemer, Friend and Brother,
may I know thee more clearly,
love thee more dearly,
and follow thee more nearly, day by day.
Amen.

I send you my fatherly blessing, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen !

There are not enough words to express my gratitude to be able to participate in the Mass daily, however, I do

miss the Eucharist daily. Thank you for all the programs that are offered by St. Thomas Aquinas on you tube, it has made isolation better. We parishioners appreciated the love and concern of our Beloved Pastor.

Happy Birthday and I hope you have a Blessed and Joyful Day. and since you are celebrating your birthday at a later day, you will have to wait for your gift until then, maybe after I receive my stimulus check.

My daily prayers are with you, Msgr. Raun, all priests, Deacons, our Seminarians, our sisters, and of course Our Holy Father every day.

God Bless you on your birthday and may you have many more healthy years. . .
