"On the evening of that first day of the week, when the doors were locked, where the disciples were, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in their midst and said to them, 'Peace be with you.' When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side. The disciples rejoicecd when they saw the Lord. Jesus said to them again, 'Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you.' And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, 'Receive the holy Spirit. Whose sins you forgive are forgiven them, and whose sins you retain are retained." John 20:19-23
"Those who approach the sacrament of Penance obtain pardon from God's mercy for the offense commited against him, and are, at the same time, reconciled with the Church which they have wounded by their sins and which by charity, by example, and by prayer labors for their conversion." Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1422.
Our hardworking priests devote their time to hear confessions nearly every day of the week. Confession times are as follows:
Preparation for first Confession typically starts in 2nd grade. Classes run concurrent with the school year with reception of the sacrament taking place in March or April.
Any Catholic who is registered at St. Thomas Aquinas Parish may have either themselves, their teenager, or their child (2nd grade +) prepare for and receive their first Confession at St. Thomas Aquinas Parish. We are happy to prepare children from another parish with the permission of the individual's pastor.
